Traffic
closure update:
Traffic closures will remain largely the same as this week,
with one lane open to traffic on Main in the downtown area. The east side of
Main between South and Bronson will continue to be closed, with traffic being
diverted to the new west side of Main. Near the end of the week lane closures
will begin on Michigan between Bartlett and Angela and the road is milled and
resurfaced. The milling is anticipated to take place Thursday and Friday, with
surface pavement being done on Saturday and the following Monday.
The Chippewa roundabout was opened this morning to
northbound traffic. The eastbound exit of the roundabout remains closed to
vehicles entering the roundabout from the south must continue north. Phase III
will begin next week, with Main St. north of Chippewa being closed.
Utility Relocation Issues:
AEP: The vault at the
northeast corner of Marion and Michigan needs to be raised. Jim from Robert
Henry stated that the elevation had been confirmed by engineers with JPR and
DLZ. Jim said that ultimately, Robert Henry would raise the vault and
Rieth-Riley should let them know when it has been staked.
A concern was voiced regarding
Aldridge working inside the two-way construction limits without giving notice
to the City and Rieth-Riley. Toy stated that he has given Aldridge permits but
has requested that they coordinate their schedule with Rieth-Riley and move out
of areas in which Rieth-Riley requires. Moving forward, it is important that
lines of communication between Aldridge, Rieth Riley, and the City remain open
so all necessary work can be completed.
Robert Henry: They still need to conduct their work at the intersection
of Main and Monroe and expect this to occur next week. They also have paving on
South St., which they will coordinate with Rieth-Riley’s closure of the area.
NIPSCO/InfraSource: Premium Concrete needs to contact Tony
from Rieth-Riley to coordinate NIPSCO’s repair work in the alley adjacent to
Saigon market.
Additionally, a sidewalk panel
needs to be removed near the Bartlett roundabout to uncover a gas valve that we
buried. NIPSCO will mark the panel that needs to come out.
Rich from the City said that there
is an untenable service line that needs to be located on Michigan St. south of
the Chippewa roundabout. Rich will coordinate with Martell do determine exactly
what is needed.
Comcast: Still need to get a
line across at Marion. Comcast has not contacted Tony.
Water Dept.: Valve
adjustments were done on Michigan this week. Next week they will begin
adjustments on Main St. and Marion and work their way south. There are also
valves at the intersection of Michigan and Park that will require at least
partial closure of the intersection. Tony and Ed were going to meet at the
intersection after the meeting to create a gameplan
Transpo: No issues with the
closure of the east side of Main. The new driveway has been functioning well.
Metronet: Ben was told that
the split duct was shipped last Thursday (7/28), but nothing has arrived. As
soon as Ben knows more information, he will contact Rieth-Riley and the City.
JMS : Rob wants to schedule
a meeting to verify that the grades for sidewalks in front of the JMS building
are correct. Toy told Rob that the compaction tests for the backfill need to be
done in lifts per standard. A single compaction test at the surface level will
not be acceptable.
INDOT : The City needs to
provide all road closure changes to INDOT using the form they provided. This
will be first be done on September 7th when the Bartlett and Marion
roundabouts are opened.
USIC : None of the utility
companies expressed any issues or concerns regarding USIC locates. USIC reiterated
that locate marks and tickets are needed prior to any form of digging.
