ITEMS TO BE DISCUSSED

9:00 AM Introductions/Sign in

The Weeks up Coming Events/Schedule
·        Update: Reith Riley continued removals around Marion and Main and started removals on the west side of Main St. between South and Bronson Streets.  Storm work is finished in the Bartlett area and Woodruff has begun work at the Marion intersection.
·        Upcoming:  Looking ahead, the next phase of lane closures is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 31.  This closure involves closing the east side of St. Joseph St. and the west side of Main Street between LaSalle and Colfax.  In the area of this closure, Reith Riley will begin concrete, curb, and sidewalk removals.  Meanwhile, grading and concrete work is scheduled to begin at the intersection of Michigan and Bartlett Streets next week, and pipe work will take place at Marion and Michigan as well.

Utility Relocation Issues:
AEP:   AEP has an existing sidewalk vault on the southeast corner of Bartlett and Michigan that will need to be raised so that it is in line with the new curb.  Bob from AEP has talked with Tony (Reith Riley) to identify the street lights to be removed in the downtown area.  This work will begin next week.  In the southern portion of the project, at Chippewa Ave, AEP has cut service to the Palmer and Case houses, and work is underway to reroute overhead lines away from the Chippewa pole.  Bob will talk with the contractor on site to ensure power to the traffic signal at the intersection of Michigan and Chippewa remains until the closure on June 6.

Robert Henry: Robert Henry is done with their work on Michigan, at Marion Street, as well as on Main, at South Street.  They will begin work to cross Main at Western Ave next week.  Robert Henry was reminded that they need to tie-in on the eastern side of Western Ave before Reith Riley comes through.  Once they are finished on Western Ave, they will move on to Jefferson St.

NIPSCO/InfraSource:  Brian, from Infrasource, relayed that as a result of their work this week, they have a 4” conduit pulled halfway across Main just south of Colfax Ave.  To finish crossing the street, they must close the west side of Main between Colfax and Washington St.  Brian plans to initiate this closure after the morning rush hour traffic on Tuesday, May 31.  Work will break during the afternoon hours to be completed overnight on Tuesday.  Phil of NIPSCO stated that his lines that are in conflict with the project north of Colfax Ave will be completely retired on Tuesday, May 31.  Once work is completed in the Columbus Court area, Infrasource will permanently patch the sidewalks that are not going to be removed by Reith Riley.

Comcast: Jay was unable to attend, but he told me earlier this week that he remains on schedule to be out of the way at Chippewa Ave by the scheduled deadline.  Comcast has placed their conduit and cables and splicing is currently scheduled to take place on June 2 or 3.

US Signal:  Similar to Comcast, Charlie O. relayed that US Signal has placed conduit and cables and plans to splice in time to meet the June 6 deadline.

AT&T:  Regarding the pedestal that remains near the Burkhart sign, I talked with Dennis and he will have a crew come to remove it if it is an issue.

Water Dept.:  Ed with the Water Department brought to light some concerns regarding the closures blocking the Water Works’ Customer Service Office drive on the east side of Main Street.  The east side of Main is projected to be closed in about 3 weeks.  Ed will make sure a representative from the Customer Service Office is present at the progress meeting in the coming weeks.
Eight inch insert valve are in and will be installed the coming week.

INDOT: INDOT had a few minor concerns regarding the relocation of SR 933 signage and signal timings.  The City will relocate SR 933 signage per plan and has plans to adjust signal timings in mid-June.

Transpo: Michael from Transpo just wanted to confirm a meeting to discuss the bus lot’s temporary access lane during the lane closure on the east side of Main between South and Bronson Streets.

Metronet: Ben, with Metronet, relayed that if his 3” conduit is placed by Wednesday, June 1, work on Thursday and Friday nights will finish everything in the Bartlett area.  As a side note, Ben reiterated the need for Indiana Earth to be extremely careful when excavating.  After narrowly avoiding a huge outage last week, Ben would like to be on site to observe Indiana Earth’s excavation for the remainder of their work on Main Street.

MCI :  MCI has relayed that they are completely out of the way on Main at South Street.

Stakeholder Questions:
Memorial Hospital:  Larry with Memorial brought a few topics up for discussion.  First, he commended the sign changes that have occurred but suggested a few more for patients that aren’t as familiar with the construction area.  Second, after a light pole was taken out by a truck last week, Larry was concerned about how to stop trucks from entering the area and causing damage.  Finally, Roger (City of South Bend) will set a meeting with Larry and the manager of Mar Main Apartments to discuss concerns regarding safety of new tenants with Memorial employees speeding through the nearby alley.

10:00 am 10:10 Break Utility and Stakeholders can leave

Submittals:  I am waiting on an overdue submittal from Structure Point.  I will contact them again today so that it can be relayed to Reith Riley as soon as possible.

Action Items
1.      QC/QA HMA:  Corbitt would like to have an internal meeting with Toy and Roger regarding the price change proposed.  He plans to have a decision by Tuesday, May 31.

2.      Redesign on Mich/Marion:  Scott (Reith Riley) brought to light concerns regarding the amount of change orders being placed.  With so many conflicting change orders, his team is confused and unable to keep a tight schedule.  Further, Scott requested to see revisions come in a more organized format.  Moving forward, Reith Riley would like to see only the final change order and Corbitt ensured the City would work with Reith Riley to get these change orders out in a timely manner.  All previous change orders will be resummarized and Reith Riley will assign a cost to the time spent working on change orders that were subsequently overridden.

3.      Barricades:  Reith Riley needs to ensure their subcontractors are re-closing barricades following the end of the work day.

4.      RFI #4 Permeable Block:  A letter has been drafted by Scott and will be passed along soon.

5.      Side Walk Closures:  In general, the City would like to see Reith Riley doing a better job of advertising sidewalk closures.

6.      Brick Manholes:  The City will get a change order to Reith Riley shortly.  The plan is to utilize the brick manholes after covering them with a spray-on concrete mixture.  The City will get the dimensions and depths of the manholes in question to Reith Riley soon.

7.      Concrete Joint Sealant:  Similar to Item 1, Corbitt will have a decision to Reith Riley Tuesday, May 31.

8.      Case House:  All electric and water have been cut to the Case and Palmer houses at Michigan and Chippewa.  NIPSCO has a crew out shutting off the gas supply to the houses today.  Asbestos treatment has been completed and Indiana Earth is scheduled to begin demolition on the houses on June 6 per their IDEM permit.

9.      Status of Signal Changes/Future Change Holes:  The signals at the intersection of Michigan and South St are going to be put back in operation.  The traffic signals at the intersections of St. Joe & LaSalle and St. Joe & Colfax (potentially those at St. Joe & Washington and St. Joe & Jefferson) will be changed to string poles instead of mast arms.  A change order will be coming in the next week.  Once the shop drawings are obtained and stamped, it will take about 8-10 weeks for the poles to be received.

Controlling Operation Marion: Pipe Work
Controlling Operation Bartlett: Pipe Work
Fraction of Day Workable: 10/10
Hi 84 Lo 64
Weather AM Cloudy, Humid PM Cloudy, Humid

The vast majority of removals have been completed from Marion to Madison on Michigan and Marion. Therefore the controlling operation is now pipe placement.

Reith-Reilly had a concrete crew pouring curb around the concrete sections poured yesterday in the Memorial Hospital Purple Lot, located on the west side of Michigan between Madison and Marian.

Woodruff was able make the connection between Str. 839B and Str. 824 on the south side of the Michigan and Bartlett intersection while successfully avoiding the 30" concrete pipe and the 12" sewer line.

While doing removals at Bronson and Main, Indiana Earth hit a gas line. The area was secured by police and plans for repair are forthcoming.

Indiana Earth has a one man crew removing sidewalk on the west side of Michigan between Madison and LaSalle. Indiana Earth also continued grading the area for the Bartlett roundabout. They removed two mushy spots and did a proof roll.

Pemberton Davis dug trenches to lay conduit for lighting on Bartlett.

Both Pemberton Davis and Wisco bored to the center of the roundabout.

Robert Henry was preparing to pour concrete for grates at the northeast corner of the Marian and Michigan intersection.

State Barricade provided one of the missing message boards at Chippewa but has yet to provide the other at Colfax and Michigan.

Controlling Operation Marion: Removals
Controlling Operation Bartlett: Pipe Work
Fraction of Day Workable: 10/10
Hi 84 Lo 61
Weather AM Sunny PM Partly Cloudy

Reith-Reilly had a concrete crew pouring permeable pavement at three locations of previous approaches in the Memorial Hospital Purple Lot, located on the west side of Michigan between Madison and Marian.

Woodruff placed Str. 839B in the center of Michigan St. on the south side of Bartlett, and made the connection from 839 to 839B. Woodruff was attempting to make the connection between Str. 839B and Str. 824 on the south side of the Michigan and Bartlett intersection when they found a 30" concrete pipe that obstructs the required path. The plan moving forward is to run two 15"  PVC pipes under the 30" concrete pipe and over the 12" sewer line.

Indiana Earth  continued removals on Marian and Michigan, tearing out asphalt, brick, and concrete north of Madison. Indiana Earth also continued grading the area for the Bartlett roundabout and the intersection of Bartlett and Riverside.

Badger continued using the hydro-vac to dig the trench and lower the fiber optic line on the east side of Michigan. The trench had been completed, and the pipe lowered, from Bartlett  to approximately Park.

Pemberton Davis dug trenches to lay conduit for lighting and assisted Badger with the trench excavation for the Fiber Optic line.

Robert Henry was preparing to pour concrete for grates at the northeast corner of the Marian and Michigan intersection.

State Barricade provided all additional signage requested by Memorial Hospital, with the exception of one sign for the Bartlett Garage that was still being fabricated. All additional emergency room signage and signage for exiting 100 Navarre Place have been provided. The two message boards at Howard and Niles were removed as requested Tuesday afternoon, but were not present at the new locations requested (Colfax/St. Joseph and Chippewa/Main). State Barricade was contacted in the morning and in the afternoon about getting the message boards to the necessary locations. Finally, State Barricade was asked change the message board at the intersection of 933 and Angela to include, "No Truck Traffic". This change had not been made by the end of the work day.

State Barricade also closed to right two lanes on St. Joseph from Colfax to LaSalle.

Controlling Operation: Removals
Fraction of Day Workable: 10/10
Hi 85 Lo 60
Weather AM Sunny PM Sunny

Reith-Reilly had a concrete crew pouring the sidewalk on the south side of Bartlett between Michigan and Main St. Crews completed work for the day around 1 pm. Reith Riley also dug around the burkhart sign foundation and determined that the original storm sewer design will work.

Woodruff was laying pipe at the southeast corner of Bartlett and Michigan and found a water main encased in concrete that was obstructing the path of the storm pipe. Woodruff removed the concrete encasement and redirected the water main so it does not obstruct the path of the storm pipe. This work required shutting off the water for the adjacent building, and was therefore done after 5 pm. After reconnecting the water main, the storm pipe was run directly beneath it. All work was completed by 7:30 pm.

Indiana Earth  continued removals on Marian and Michigan. At approximately 12:30, Indiana Earth hit and damages a Metro-Net fiber optic line on Michigan St. north of Marian. It is believed that no active wires were damaged, but a new conduit is needed. A strategy was developed for Pemberton Davis to run a new 3" conduit across Michigan and install a new handhole on the east side of Michigan. Metro-Net plans to announce a 2-day emergency outage next week to allow new fiber lines to be run through the new conduit. Indiana Earth also continued grading the area for the Bartlett roundabout.

Pemberton Davis installed PVC pipe across the new Bartlett on the east side of Michigan, and also helped Badger dig the trench for the fiber optic line to be lowered into.

Requested snow fencing for pedestrian crosswalks through construction zones were provided for the crosswalk across Marian St, but is still needed for the crosswalks in the Bartlett section. Additionally, signage requested of State Barricade has yet to be provided.

State Barricade shut down Main Street between South Street and Bronson Street. They also closed Bronson and South Street going west of Main street to Lafayette Street.

Controlling Operation: Removals
Fraction of Day Workable: 10/10
Hi 78 Lo 53
Weather AM Sunny PM Sunny

Reith-Reilly had a concrete crew pouring the sidewalk on the north side of Bartlett between Michigan and Main St. The specified increase in grade between the north edge of the street and the south edge of the sidewalk was not achieved, resulting in too large of a grade increase required between the north edge of the sidewalk and the adjacent parking lot. Various solutions are being considered, including casting a curb on the north side of the side walk.

Woodruff completed placement of the structures on the east side of Michigan south of Bartlett. Structure 839B, in the center of Michigan St. south of Bartlett, has not been placed. Once this structure is placed, the pipe spanning Michigan south of Bartlett can be placed and all storm structures in the Bartlett section will be complete.

Indiana Earth  continued removals on Marian and Michigan. All sidewalks have been removed on Michigan from Navarre to Marian. Sidewalk on the west side of Michigan was removed between Marian and Madison.
Marian removals extend all the way to Main St., and removals along Line PR-A (southwest from the intersection of Marian and Michigan towards Main) have reached the south side of the Scottish Rite. The two farthest lanes east remained closed between Marian and LaSalle, but removals did not extend farther south than Sta. 18+00 Line PR-A. Indiana Earth also began grading the area for the Bartlett roundabout.

Pemberton Davis was pouring concrete foundations for street lights on the east side of Michigan at Bartlett.

Drawings were submitted to State Barricade in the morning with requested additions and changes to the MOT around Memorial Hospital. Changes are expected to be implemented Tuesday morning (5/24). Requested snow fencing for pedestrian crosswalks through construction zones have not yet been provided.

Infrasource appears to have thier work completed on Main street between Marion and LaSalle.

Controlling Operation: Removals
Fraction of Day Workable: 10/10
Hi 68 Lo 50
Weather AM Sunny, Partly Cloudy PM Mostly Cloudy

Reith-Reilly had a concrete crew working on side walk on Bartlett St. between Michigan and St. Joseph. The sidewalk on the north side of Bartlett was completed up util the point at which the sidewalk begins to expand from 6' to 10'. The sidewalk ramp on the south side of Bartlett at St. Joseph St. was also completed. On Bartlett St. on the west side of Michigan, a concrete dumpster pad and adjacent curb were poured.

Woodruff completed placement of the majority of structures on Michigan St. between Park and Bartlett. Connection across Michigan is still needed between the structures immediately south of Bartlett St. One additional work day is likely needed to complete all storm sewer work in the Bartlett project.

Indiana Earth  continued removals on Marian and Michigan. Asphalt has been removed on Michigan from as far south as the McDonalds entrance south of Marian. Marian removals (road, curb, and sidewalk) extend west to approximately where the curve connects to Main St.

Nipsco completed there work on the west side of Michigan between Bartlett and Navarre mid-morning.

Infrasource continued work on the west side of Main St. between Marian and LaSalle. Their work closed the far west lane of Main. The two farthest lanes east were barricaded mid-afternoon, restricting traffic to one lane. However, no removals took place in this section.

Pemberton Davis was pushing electric conduit at the intersection of Bartlett and Michigan.

State Barricade placed a few additional signs for maintenance of traffic in the area directly east of 100 Navarre Place. Drums and barricades were placed on Main St. between Marian and LaSalle, closing the two lanes farthest east.

Air Marking provides striping along the temporary road at St. Joseph and Marian, and also along Main St. between Marian and LaSalle.

The weekly progress meeting was held at the City Field Office. Representatives from Memorial Hospital attended and provided a list of requests regarding additions and corrections to existing signage along with some requests for new signage. Complete meeting minutes are attached below.

Permission was granted to proceed with plans to Hydro-Vac the area beneath the existing Fiber Optices line between Bartlett and Riverside. It is estimated that 300' of line needs to be lowers 2' in order to not be in the way of the Marian roundabout foundation.

A meeting was held between Reith Riley and the City of South Bend to resolve storm structures in the plans lacking details such as height and piping. 18 structures were investigated and the City of South Bend provided directives for structure fabrication.

ITEMS TO BE DISCUSSED

9:00 AM Introductions/Sign in

The Weeks up Coming Events/Schedule
1.      Update: Reith Reilly started the Michigan St closure on Tuesday to begin removals and storm work.
2.      Upcoming: Reith Reilly is still working on removing concrete on Marion, east of the proposed roundabout.  Coming up next week, Reith Reilly expects lane restrictions in multiple places.  The west side of Main St. between South and Bronson will be closed.  The west lanes of Main will also be closed between Lasalle and Colfax.  This closure will happen in phase with the closing of eastern St. Joe St. between Lasalle and Colfax.  Next week, Reith Reilly plans to begin removals in the downtown streetscape area while they finish storm work at the Marion and Bartlett roundabouts.

Utility Relocation Issues:
AEP:   AEP is out of Reith Reilly’s way both the Marion and Bartlett roundabouts.  The relocation of their 3 phase tie at the Chippewa intersection has been set and they are on track to be out of the area by 6/2.

Robert Henry: Robert Henry has completed their work on the east side of Main St and plans to be done working on Western and at the intersection of Marion and Michigan St today.  They plan to start work on Washington St on Monday so that they remain in sequence with Reith Reilly’s work.

NIPSCO/InfraSource:  NIPSCO has no further work to do in the area of the Marion or Bartlett roundabouts.  By the end of the day, NIPSCO’s 8” pipe on Main St will be retired.  They also have plans to be done working on Lafayette today so that they are off of the temporary arterial roadway ahead of next week’s additional road closures.  Other work on Main St, between Lasalle and Colfax, will be completed by next Thursday so that they are out of Reith Reilly’s way.

Comcast: Jay relayed that an area crew should be pulling their fiber on Chippewa in the next few days.  They have plans to be out of the Chippewa intersection well before the 6/5 deadline.  Jay hopes to be off of the pole at the Marion roundabout before Monday, leaving AT&T as the sole utility left on the pole.

US Signal:  US Signal didn’t show up to the meeting, but after talking with Charlie O., it appears as if they plan to send a bore crew out on Monday to begin pushing conduit on Monday.

AT&T:  AT&T was a no show and I haven’t heard much from Dennis.  The vaults at Michigan and Bartlett have been backfilled and are no longer a concern.  Reith Reilly has an estimate on the price to reroute from Woodruff and will pass this on to Myron.  AT&T also appears to be using the vault of the JMS building as a hub.  They will need to relocate their lines before the vault can be closed down.  At the Marion roundabout, AT&T still has an overhead line connected to a pole.  At this point, it appears as if AT&T will need to hold the pole while Reith Reilly finishes their storm work on Monday, 5/23.

Water Dept:  Ed from the Water Department brought news that the valve breakage on Main St, north of Lasalle, has been repaired.  The other breakage, located on Lasalle, is set to be fixed by the second weekend of June.  The water line near the Mason facility on Main St needs to be relocated, but Woodruff is still waiting on the insert valves to be manufactured.

INDOT: INDOT was a no show.

Transpo:  Transpo just wanted to confirm the upcoming lane closures with Reith Reilly and ensure that their buses will still have a means of transport through the lane restricted zones.

Metronet: There appears to be a very shallow fiber line located on Michigan St crossing Bartlett at the site of the proposed roundabout.  An estimated 300 LFT of line needs to be lowered so that it is not in the way of the roundabout foundation.  This will take about 2 days’ worth of work, is scheduled to begin on Monday.  Concurrently, an undistributed 2” PVC will be added in the area for future use.  Ben noted that this issue might be run into again at the site of the Marion roundabout and perhaps throughout the remained of the job.  As a final note, Ben wanted to emphasize the importance of being careful with such a large excavator on Michigan St near Bartlett.  Scott from Reith Reilly mentioned the idea of conducting some pothole depth checks to ensure no Metronet lines are accidently pulled. It was also suggested to run an additional conduit while lowering the current on for future use.

MCI: Quentin from MCI didn’t show.  They were set to begin their work in phase with Reith Reilly’s crew next week, but I will call to confirm that a start date has been set.

Stakeholder Questions
Memorial:  Larry mentioned that many patients have arrived to the Memorial campus frustrated with the current signage.  He stayed after the meeting to talk with Myron about his recommendations for additional signage and safety concerns.  Tony with Reith Reilly offered to open part of Bartlett to improve vehicle access to Warner and Navarre Street parking.  Larry would like to see Indiana Earth using a wet saw to keep the dust cloud from saw cutting the pavement to a minimum.  Further, though temporary striping exists in some pedestrian areas, Memorial would like some sort of fencing to be put in place to funnel pedestrians to the correct areas.  Finally, Larry wanted to emphasize the need for a direct walkway from the purple lot (located across from the field office) to the hospital.

Additional RW and Encroachments:
               Division A
1.      Sandra V Case ( Keys )
-         Both the Case and Palmer houses have had asbestos tests done.  Each showed trace amounts, but the remediation required won’t be an issue.  The keys to the Case house will be handed over today.  Utilities plan to disconnect from both houses before demolition begins next week.
               Division B
1.      Burkhart sign/foundation
-         The Burkhart sign is being removed today.  As for the foundation, the City would like for it to be removed to a depth of 5’.  A time and material analysis on Burkhart’s price quote for foundation removal will be conducted to meet this request.

Submittals (List at Meeting): We are currently waiting for the revised drawings regarding the tree grates as well as a color code (RAL #) for the proposed crosswalks.

Action Items
1.      QC/QA HMA
-         The City is waiting for the price from Reith Riley.
2.      Redesign on Mich/Marion
-         The East side of Michigan will now include 5 (identical) special shallow structures.  These drawings will be distributed by early next week.  The most pressing issue is currently the detail regarding the connection to the west side of Michigan St as Reith Reilly plans to begin work in this area on Monday, 5/23.
3.      Chase Tower (Main Street)
-         Chase has said they will take responsibility for the sidewalk located above their vault.  They plan to backfill the vault in this area and conduct their work in sequence with Reith Reilly.  There have been some concerns regarding the safety of Reith Reilly’s crew when working in the area of the building, especially during times of gusty winds.  Toy will follow up on this.
4.      RFI #4 Permeable Block

5.      Side Walk Closures
-         We discussed the importance of Reith Reilly keeping up with posted sidewalk closures near the worksite.  This goes hand-in-hand with some of the concerns Larry and Memorial brought up about pedestrian access routes to the hospital.
6.      Mar Main Delay
-         Reith Reilly stated that it’s hard to define the amount of time they were delayed since they were able to work in some other areas during the delay.  Right now, they are an estimated 5-6 days behind schedule.  Moving forward, Corbitt would like to see all issues and delays brought to light immediately and in writing.  He introduced the idea of a spreadsheet being used to track the contractor’s notices and subject them to an internal review process.  Toy, Myron, and Roger plan to meet about the creation of such a spreadsheet on Monday.

Reith Riley Construction Concerns/Questions:
New drawings regarding traffic control on Michigan St near the Fire Station are coming.  As for the trench drain that was scheduled to be taken out of the design, Woodruff told Reith Reilly that the drain has already been ordered and that there is not a restock price.  As a result, Corbitt said the City would keep the drain, but still follow through on the changes to the design.  Though there is still no information regarding the concrete joint sealer, Tony wants to make sure a sealer that comes in a limestone color is chosen so that the product looks professional.  Tony was also concerned about a few inlets on Bronson St that remain unaccounted for.  Reith Reilly is meeting with Roger at 2 pm to discuss their problems with Structure Point and the problem structures on the west side of Main St.  Finally, we discussed moving the “Welcome to South Bend” from Michigan and Chippewa St to a different location.  The City will remove the sign on 6/6 once closures have begun in the area.

Controlling Operation: Removals
Fraction of Day Workable: 10/10
Hi 70 Lo 45
Weather AM Sunny PM Sunny

Reith-Reilly had a concrete crew working on side walk on Bartlett St. between Michigan and St. Joseph. Progress stopped at approximately Sta. 71+50 Line 'E'.

Woodruff had a a crew working on the Southwest corner of the intersection of Bartlett and Michigan. A new structure was set just North of Str. 824.This structure will intercept the new storm line running north and south and the existing storm line running east and west.

Indiana Earth  continued removals on Marian and Michigan. Asphalt has been removed on Michigan from as far south as the McDonalds entrance south of Marian. Minimal removal has taken place  on Michigan between Marian and Bartlett. Nipsco was working on the west side of Michigan between Bartlett and Navarre, but their presence was minimal and was not preventing removal work in that section. Marian removals extend east just past the temporary road and extend west to approximately Sta. 21+00 Line 'PR-A', meaning removals have not yet reached Main St. Eight dump trucks were cycling through for all removals, and significant downtime was observed for back hoes waiting for trucks to arrive.

Infrasource continued work on the west side of Main St. between Marian and LaSalle. Their work closed the far west lane of Main. Closing the two farthest lanes east remains possible for removals to begin in that section, but no removals have occurred up to this point.

Pemberton Davis was pushing electric conduit at the intersection of Bartlett and Michigan.

State Barricade placed a few additional signs for maintenance of traffic. A 'Stop Ahead' sign was placed on Michigan St. southbound prior to the new all-way stop  at Michigan and Riverside.

Robert Henry was working at the intersection of Marian and Michigan and saw a live electric duct bank running North-South down Michigan St. The electric duct was approximately 20" below the original asphalt surface. This duct is expected to obstruct the foundation for the Marian St. roundabout.

A meeting was held with representatives from Metro-Net to discuss possible solutions for the fiber optics line running north and south on the east side of Michigan St. Between Bartlett and Riverside, Indiana Earth pot holed three locations to determine the depth of the fiber optics line, and all three locations revealed that the line sits less than 6" from the surface. Discussion with Metro-Net representatives eliminated the possibility of splicing the lines to a new conduit.  Rather, Hydro-Vacs will be used to dig the trench and lower the existing conduit from Bartlett to Riverside. Solutions are still needed for pulling the existing lines which are stuck in the conduit, and the depth of the line between Bartlett and Marian remains unknown.
