ITEMS TO BE
DISCUSSED
The Weeks up Coming
Events/Schedule
Division A – Reith Reilly plans to continue preliminary
work. The asbestos testing is expected
to be completed by early next week.
Division B – Anticipating the Tuesday closures, Reith Reilly
plans to have demolition crews in 3 areas with concrete crews continuing their
work on Bartlett. They plan to begin
storm work as early as Tuesday afternoon, immediately following the demolition
crews.
Utility Relocation Issues:
AEP:
Bartlett Street lights have been removed.
Marion Street: Robert hennery plans
on finishing the removal of street lights this
Weekend
Chippewa:
AEP still has not removed their
line from the pole at Chippewa, but they plan to start work next week. Comcast and US Signal were waiting for AEP,
but have taken measures to complete their work in spite of AEP’s delays.
Robert Henry:
Robert Henry will complete their
work on the south east corner of Main & Western on Saturday. They plan to begin work on Marion Street
starting next week. The crossings at
Washington, Jefferson, and Western (utilizing a night closure for Western) are
expected to be done by June 8.
NIPSCO/InfraSource
NIPSCO will be done at the
Columbia Court area by the morning of the closure on the 17th. Their work on Main between Madison and Marion
was expected to have been completed today, but the water main breakage caused
their gas line to fill. As a result,
their work here has been set back a few days and is now expected to be done by
the 23rd. They plan to have
all work north of Lassalle done by the 23rd. There were some concerns about untonable gas
lines on Bartlett. Phil from the utility
will have someone go on site to check on these, but he believes the lines have
already been shut off and are a nonissue.
Comcast:
Jay couldn’t make the meeting, but
he relayed that Comcast will start work on Chippewa on the 16th and
has plans to be out of the area by June 5th.
The pole on Marion east of Main may need to be
held due to its location in reguards to the storm sewer line, since Comcast and
AT&T are still on it.
US Signal:
Charlie O. of the utility has
plans to splice beginning June 3rd.
US Signal will be off of the pole and out of the Chippewa intersection
by June 5th.
AT&T:
No one for AT&T came to the
meeting. I will call Dennis to check
up. The vault on Michigan at Bartlett is
preventing Reith Reilly from setting 2 structures. The line at Marion and Michigan is still
scheduled to be moved in the next week.
Water Dept.
The Water Department discovered
two broken valves that need to be fixed as soon as possible without disrupting
the construction schedule. One valve is
located on Main Street near the intersection with Lassalle. The other is located on Lassalle Ave near
Main and will require two days to repair.
Ed from South Bend Water has said the work could be completed on a
weekend with traffic restricted to one lane and a flagger present.
INDOT:
INDOT was a no
show.
Transpo:
Transpo just wanted to confirm the
placement of the Temporary Access Lane to the Transpo lot.
Metronet
Metronet has a rigid conduit near
Bartlett that may need to be lowered so that Reith Reilly can continue their work
in the area. If the conduit needs
lowered Pemberton Davis will do this work, while they are in the area. Some
work will also need to be done to determine the fiber line in the handhole
location and splicing capabilities.
Stakeholder
Questions:
Larry with
Memorial Hospital inquired about the signage regarding the Michigan Street
detours. Local Traffic Only signs have
been added for the south bound traffic north of the river and for the north
bound traffic at Lafayette & Marion.
A No Outlet sign will also be added for north bound traffic on
Michigan. Larry will notify EMS of the
closures and detour routes.
Additional RW and Encroachments:
Division A
The Case house will be vacated on
the 16th and the City will take ownership of the house on the 20th
Division B
Corbitt will have a resolution for
the Burkhart sign this afternoon following today’s meeting. If Burkhart refuses to remove the sign
themselves, a special meeting to call for Condemnation will be held on the 16th
to give AEP the legal right to cut the power.
The sign itself can be removed at any time, but likely won’t be down
until the 19th or 20th.
The foundation can be removed once the power is taken care of.
Submittals (List
at Meeting): No issues with submittals
Action Items
1 MCI
Quentin, representing MCI,
provided drawings detailing the extent of the work MCI has yet to do. They have a conduit on the northwest corner
of Main and South Street that needs to be lowered as soon as possible. MCI will be placing test holes at other
intersections on Main, as well. MCI also
has work to do on the Southwest corner of Main and Washington. Quentin will relay that this work needs to be
started next week.
2 QC/QA HMA
A
change order is being written regarding the QC/QA HMA.
3 Redesign on Mich/Marion
The structures on Michigan west
side between Madison and Lasalle may need to be altered to tie into the
existing structure on Lasalle. Another
structure may need to be added at the Michigan and Madison intersection. The remaining structures between Madison and
Marion on Michigan are cast in place. A
meeting has been set with Lawson Fisher on Monday to go over these details.
4 Chase Tower (Main Street)
There is a vault underneath the
Chase Tower that needs to be avoided.
Reith Reilly will need access to do a sawcut and then will avoid
sidewalk work and plan to work outside of the problem area. Tony (Reith Reilly) will review the layout of
the curb and get a plan for the construction, working with Leonidas (Chase) to
determine how much work can be done.
5 RFI #4 Permeable Block
Division A
consists of all non-permeable brick pavers with non-permeable detail. Division B will have permeable brick pavers
for the splitter islands and buffer area.
Reith Reilly is concerned that the special previsions for the
non-permeable pavers do not include all of the components of the pay item. A meeting has been set for Tuesday at the
field office with Reith Reilly and the city to work out the details of these
concerns.
Reith Riley Construction
Concerns/Questions:
Tony
wanted to confirm that loop sealant with no backer rod is being used for the
concrete joints on Bartlett. It was also
decided that the signals at the intersection of Michigan and North Shore Drive
should be set to red flashers and that the lights should not be bagged for the
closure.
