Woodruff was installing storm pipe and structures on the west side of Michigan south of Madison. These are the last structures that need to be installed in the Marian section. Woodruff also tied a fired hydrant into an existing water main on Marian at approximately Line A Sta. 22+50. 

Rieth-Riley had a concrete crew pouring curb on the splitter island north of the Bartlett roundabout. They also graded and poured new sidewalk on the west side of Main St. between LaSalle and Colfax. They began grading for sidewalk on the west side of Main between Washington and Jefferson. 

Ziolkowski continued construction of rebar cages and forms for the north and south roundabout concrete walls.

Indiana Earth continued spreading dense subgrade in the Marian section. Sidewalk removals continued on the west side Main St. between Washington and Jefferson. 

Pemberton Davis was working at the intersection of Main and Indiana tying in to existing structures. 

Robert Henry continued running their line east from the intersection of Main and Marian.

Woodruff finished installing storm structures and pipe on Marian St. Structures 126 and 127 were tied in to. Robert Henry began running their line on Marian east of Main now that Woodruff is out of their way.

Rieth-Riley had a concrete crew pouring sidewalk on the west side of Main St. between LaSalle and Colfax. The section of sidewalk approaching Colfax from the north is 70' and was not provided with an expansion joint. Expansion joints are required every 40', so a saw cut will be necessary to add the joint. Rieth-Riley also poured curb ramps on the SE and SW corners of Main/Calvert. The NE and SE corners of St. Joe and Monroe were graded.

Ziolkowski constructed rebar cages and forms for the north and south roundabout concrete walls.

Indiana Earth continued spreading dense subgrade in the Marian section. Sidewalk removals took place on the west side Main St. between Washington and Jefferson. They also removed the NE corner of Michigan and Indiana and the SW corner of Main and Jefferson.

Pemberton Davis and Infrasource both met with the property owner of Madison Oyster Bar and inspected the basement vault that was cut into by the saw cut yesterday. A game plan was developed for relocating the electric and gas lines prior to filling the vault. Friday morning the property owner will meet with Rieth-Riley and a plumbing contractor to determine how to relocate the water line. Pemberton Davis' work is tentatively scheduled for Monday (6/20). 

NIPSCO lowered the service line that was cut a few weeks ago on the W. side of Main just south of Bronson St. Its now about 2" above the 8" water main.

Robert Henry was removing street lights on Main between Wayne and Western.

AT&T worked on lowering the line on Marion Street East of Michigan at the alley.

Woodruff continued running storm pipe along Marian, and made the connection to Str. 124A. Structures 124 and 125 were placed and connected to 124A. The pipe connections to Str. 126 and 127 were held until tomorrow morning because placing the pipe requires disassembling the temporary crosswalk facilitating access between the Hospital and its Purple Lot. 

Rieth-Riley had a crew at Bartlett that was removing forms and pouring the remaining components of the roundabout colored crosswalks. Rieth-Riley also graded the southeast and southwest corners of Michigan and Calvert for walk and curb ramps.

Ziolkowski completed constructing rebar cages for the north and south roundabout wall foundations. The foundations were poured in the afternoon.

Indiana Earth continued grading in the Marian roundabout section. The dense graded subbase was begun on the north end of the roundabout. Sidewalk removals began on Main St. between LaSalle and Colfax. They also had a crew saw cutting on Main Street South of Lasalle along the buildings. Indiana Earth finished removals on the southeast corner of the intersection of St. Joe and Monroe and began removing the walk at the southwest corner of St. Joe and Wayne.

Pemberton Davis was running conduit across Michigan just north of the Marian roundabout. Their work was completed prior to placement of gravel sub-grade in that section.

WISSCO was running irrigation lines to the center of the Marian roundabout.

During the saw cutting for the sidewalk removals along the buildings south of Colfax on the west side at the Oyster bar a vault was cut into. The vault jets out to the curb line it is roughly 20 by 15. Roger, Toy, Me and Tony Kasar  went down and looked at the basement. After evaluating the situation Reith Riley was instructed to calk and seal the saw cut over the basement. They where also instructed to place support posts under areas of the sidewalk that could be compromised. It was determined that the basement area will need to be filled in, this work will require the utilities entering the building to be relocated. Pemberton Davis will be on site to inspect the electric and Reith Riley is working on getting a plumber.

Woodruff began excavations and laying pipe for the new storm line down Marian St. Pipe was run from the existing manhole at the old intersection of Main and Marian, and the line was successfully run under the duct bank. Tomorrow the pipe will be tied in to Str. 124A and the connections to auxiliary structures will begin. 

Rieth-Riley had a concrete crew in the morning which poured the remaining sections of the north and south Michigan approaches of the Bartlett roundabout. Rieth-Riley also had a crew which poured curb ramps at the northwest corner of the Calvert and Main intersection and both the northwest and northeast corners of the Calvert and St. Joseph intersection. 

Ziolkowski laid rebar cages for the north and south wall foundations in the center of the Bartlett roundabout. These foundations are scheduled to be poured tomorrow (6/14).

Indiana Earth had a two man crew grading on Marian east of Michigan.  Indiana Earth also had a two man crew grading to the west of the Bartlett roundabout.They worked on removals on Monroe and Michigan

JPR laid out Main Street for removals on the west side south of LaSalle.

Pemberton Davis was working at the intersection of Indiana and Main St. putting in sleeves.

It was determined that the utilities at the intersection of Main and Bronson could not be lowered. Roger called ASI to get the vertical curves set so the utilities would not be an issue.

Woodruff was not on site today.

Rieth-Riley had a concrete crew which poured the outside lane of northbound traffic from approximately Sta. 17+00 to 19+00 on Line CC. They also poured colored crosswalks. Minor remain aspects of the roundabout will be formed on Saturday and poured on Monday.

Indiana Earth continued grading on Marian east of Michigan.  Indiana Earth removed sidewalk at the intersections of Monroe/Main and Monroe/Michigan. They also worked on cutting for sugrade treatment at Bronson and Main Street

Pemberton Davis was running conduit for receptacles and light poles on the south side of the Bartlett roundabout. 

The weekly progress meeting with utilities was this morning. Meeting minutes are attached.

Met on site with Chris Chockley, Roger, Toy and Larry Lies about the grade on Bartlett north side west of Michigan. We also looked over the AT@T duct bank on Marion East of Michigan.

Met with Transpo and reviewed the entrance on South Street.

 Darwin was on site at Marion and Chippewa to do locates for city utilities.

·        Update: Reith Riley is 90% done with concrete pavement in the Bartlett roundabout section. Final concrete pavement pouring will be conducted Monday (6/13). Next week work in the Bartlett section will transition to concrete curb pouring. The majority of grading and storm structure installation has been completed in the Marian section. Next week the final storm structures will be installed on Michigan North of LaSalle and sub-grade treatment can begin. Removals are underway in the Chippewa section, and the initial traffic issues stemming from Chippewa detours have been resolved.

·        Upcoming:  Looking ahead, removals south of Colfax on Michigan and Main will begin next week. Rieth-Riley will work on the west side of both roads. Concrete crews are expected to follow shortly behind removals in the downtown section to minimize the time in which businesses lack sidewalk access.

Utility Relocation Issues:

AEP:   Rieth-Riley needs to corrdinate with Fran and Bob from AEP for work in the downtown section.

Robert Henry: Robert Henry is done with their work on Marian west of Main and the road is open. They are waiting for Woodruff to run storm pipe on Marian prior to conducting their work on Marian east of Main. In the meantime, Robert Henry will move to Jefferson and run their 30’ conduit across Jefferson. This work should be completed by Wednesday. Closures on Jefferson need to be coordinated with Rieth-Riley as they will be in the area at the same time. Robert Henry will be completely off Main St. by mid-July after finishing work at the intersection of Monroe.

NIPSCO/InfraSource:  Infrasource has completed their 4” line across Colfax, and that line will be completely tied-in by Monday (6/13). They are running a line across LaSall this evening (6/10), which will require closing eastbound traffic on LaSalle. In that section of LaSalle there will be one lane open to westbound traffic, and Roger from the City stressed that Infrasource cannot have any equipment in that lane. Infrasource has work on Washington St. between Michigan and St. Joseph, and requested a week long closure in that section, which the City granted. Infrasource was asked to notify the Hall of Fame, First Source Bank, Double-Tree, and any other stakeholders impacted by this closure. Finally, Infrasource still had work to be done on Main between Colfax and Jefferson. Toy from the City made it clear that Infrasource must be completely off Main St. by 6/27 in order to not cause Rieth-Riely further delays.

     

Comcast: Compacts representatives were unable to attend.

AT&T:  Dennis with AT&T meet with the City prior to today’s meeting to evaluate a duct bank running north-south across Marian east of Michigan St. Lowering the duct bank would require excavating an additional distance to the south, which would close the emergency access lane on Marian. The City does not consider this possible and is considering alternatives.

Water Dept.:  The water department is able to retire the 8” pipe on Main at South St. That work will happen Tuesday. 24” main runs down the middle of the road and doesn’t need adjusting. They are closing LaSalle west of Main tonight (6/10) and will be out by tomorrow morning. Tapping the JMS line into the water main has been scheduled for 6/18. 69 castings remain that need to be adjusted to grade. A new pay item will be provided for the adjustments. The water department will provide materials and Rieth-Riely will handle the installations.

INDOT: INDOT provided specifications for joint details and fog seal. The City instructed Rieth-Riley to use the joint spec that does not incorporate backer rod. In the state portions of the project, fog seal will be used and sections requiring striping will be grinded down 1/8”.

Transpo: Michael from Transpo is meeting with the City at 1 pm today to discuss the bus lot’s temporary access lane during the lane closure on the east side of Main between South and Bronson Streets.

Metronet: The work lowering the MetroNet cable on the east side of Michigan south of Bartlett has been priced and given to the city. The city will provide new casting support for the structure on Marian. Ben stressed that the fiber optic line on the east side of Michigan south of Chippewa supports all of Plymouth, and removal crews need to be potholing along the entire section. Some uncertainty existed regarding whether or not the fiber line had been located. It was stressed that locates need to be provided both before and after pavement removal has taken place.

              

               MCI :  MCI needs to know when Rieth-Riley will be working at the intersections of Western and Wayne. They also need elevations so they can adjust their manholes to grade. The City requested that MCI provide barrels where they are working at the intersection of Washington and Main.

Stakeholder Questions:

Memorial Hospital:  Larry with Memorial informed the City of a few sign issues in the area surrounding the Hospital.

Submittals:  I am waiting on an overdue submittal from Structure Point.  I will contact them again today so that it can be relayed to Reith Riley as soon as possible.

Action Items

1.      QC/QA HMA:  Rieth-Riley received the final change order from Structure Point and has provided the City with pricing. The City reiterated that in City sections of road, Type C HMA should be provided using 402 provisions, with the expectations that only limestone aggregate can be used for coarse aggregate and no RAP or asphalt shingles can be used. These exceptions are also provided in the special provisions of the contract.

2.      Redesign on Mich/Marion:  LFA is providing a new drawing set that includes all storm structure changes from Revisions 6-8.

3.      Barricades:  Reith-Riley will send a person out each afternoon after work is concluded to ensure that all barriers and barricades have been returned to their proper locations. The greatest area of concern currently is the barrels on the east side of Michigan/St. Joe south of LaSalle.

4.      RFI #4 Permeable Block:  A letter from Rieth-Riley will be provided to the City today.

5.      Side Walk Closures:  Rieth-Riley will have a concrete crew following removals at the intersection on the southern end of the project starting on Monday. This will minimize the time in which intersections have sidewalk closures. Rieth-Riley needs to make sure that proper signage is provided at all closed sidewalks.

6.      Concrete Joint Sealant:  Rieth-Riley will provide pricing for the concrete joint sealant based on the INDOT Spec that does not include backer rod.

7.      St. Joseph Removals moving to west side:  Rieth-Riley confirmed that removals on St. Joseph will switch from the east side to the west side south of Colfax. These removals are expected to begin next week.

8.      Status of Signal Changes:  Roger from the City has received drawings from Structure Point, and will review and provide to Rieth-Riley on Monday (6/13).

9.      Revised Schedule: Rieth-Riley is planned to closure all the way from Colfax to Western to speed up the work in that section.

10.   Chip/Main Signal: The City is waiting on LFA for strain pole revisions.

Woodruff had a crew on Main St. south of Madison installing storm structures and piping along the west side of Main St. 

Rieth-Riley had a concrete crew which poured the outside lane of northbound traffic from approximately Sta. 15+00 to 17+00 on Line CC. The remaining aspects of the northbound lanes were formed and these sections are anticipated to be poured tomorrow (6/10). Rieth-Riley had a prep crew on Main at intersections of Calvert, Broadway, and Indiana. Integral curb was poured on Bartlett on west side of Michigan. 

Indiana Earth continued grading on Marian east of Michigan.  Indiana Earth was doing sub-grade treatment at Main St. between Bronson and South Street. They were also doing removals on Main St. at Broadway and Indiana. 

Robert Henry has a large crew that removed the top of the concrete duct bank running north-south on Main St. north of Madison. The three conduits in the top row of the bank were placed just to the west of the second row. A new concrete duct bank was poured in the afternoon. JPR took shots on the new concrete and the top of concrete leaves 4" of cover below the bottom of asphalt. 

Pemberton Davis replaced two westbound signal heads at Main and Calvert and placed one new signal pole at Main and Indiana and one new pole on Michigan and Indiana. 

Bob Kroll from South Bend Water Works will be on site tomorrow at Main and South to locate the 24" water main running along the east side of Main. The area was hand dug today to 7' on the main had yet to be found.
